Thing #6: Have some Flickr fun and discover some Flickr mashups & 3rd party sites.

I really enjoyed looking at mashup, trading cards, color picker, and mosaic maker.
Students would really enjoy using these apps.  I could see using the trading card app to make cards for literary characters or author studies.

Thing #5: Exploring Flickr

I really enjoyed exploring Flickr.   I browsed (but it felt like playing) through all the uploaded images.  I found a bunch of beautiful pictures of my home area in Iowa.  Then I went to the commons area.  I had some trouble browsing there but then realized you could narrow down by tag only instead of full text.  That made it much easier to find things I was looking for.

I created an account and uploaded some pictures.  Since it is summer and I am not at my library, I uploaded a picture I took of the beautiful rainbow that was on the lake last night.

Thing #4: Register your blog and begin your 2.0 journey.

Signed up for the course with Region I, blog registered (twice, because, once again I got ahead of myself and didn't follow the directions).  Can't wait to get started!

MUST REMEMBER -- read activity completely through before starting task!

Thing #3: Set up your own blog , add your first post, add an avatar.

Ta-da!!!!  Blog is set up, avatar added, three posts complete.  Yay!  I had the most trouble figuring out how to add the avatar but then I scrolled down more and there were the directions!  Hmm!  Helps to read the whole activity before jumping in with both feet.  Important directions for students, too.
I had already set up an avatar in my Yahoo account but I enjoyed personalizing it for this purpose.  I can see where students would LOVE this.

Thing #2: Discover a few pointers from lifelong learners and learn how to nurture your own learning process.

I watched the video about highly effective learners.  My question for myself is...I consider myself an effective learner who has most of those traits.  So why is it that I can't get through this course.  This time is the charm!
I think my strong points would be having confidence as a compotent, effective learner and using technology to my advantage.  Areas of improvement are beginning with the end in mind and viewing problems as challenges.  I need to stick with this course and not get bogged down with difficult tasks.  In the past, I have put things off to the end and then gotten discouraged.  Not this time though!  I can't wait to learn all these new things!

Thing #1: Read this blog and find out about the program.

So here I go!  This is only the third time I have registered for this workshop but I am determined that this time I will complete all 23 things!  Although it is July 30 and I only have two weeks to complete them, I am committed!
